Adding Colour on an Enamelling Course

Last weekend I was at In the Studio Jewellery School, learning more about enamelling and painting with enamels. Enamels are made from finely ground glass, these are applied to the piece and then fired, either in a kiln or with a torch, until the glass heats and fuses to the metal – producing beautiful colours. I used a quill and made myself a little palette of test colours; the test pieces were on copper, so I chose opaque and played with mixing colours.
I would now like to work with transparent colours on silver – and feel a whole new area of jewellery design opening up...! :)
